His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture, issued a decree appointing Dr. Sumaya bint Suleiman bin Abdullah Al-Sulaiman as CEO of the Architecture and Design Arts Authority, which was recently launched within 11 new cultural bodies affiliated with the Ministry of Culture.

Sumaya Al-Sulaiman is one of the specialized experiences in this field, as she obtained a doctorate degree in the same specialty from the University of Newcastle in Britain in 2010 and a post-doctoral fellowship in the Ibn Khaldun program from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States of America, in addition to administrative qualifications of the same The institute, including the course "Beyond Smart Cities: New Designs and Technology", the Executive Program "Negotiations and Impact", an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership, and a Certificate in Strategy and Innovation.
Dr. Sumaya Al-Sulaiman has been the Dean of the College of Design at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University since 2017, and a member of the Municipal Council of the Eastern Province Municipality, and she participated as a curator of the first Saudi National Pavilion in the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale in Italy.
The new authority will assume multiple tasks through which it will develop the architecture and design arts sector in all its directions, including drawing the sector’s strategy and laying down regulations related to it, licensing related activities, encouraging investment in the field, in addition to providing training courses and professional programs and supporting intellectual property rights in related fields. And other organizational functions.
The Architecture and Design Arts Authority is among the new bodies launched by the Ministry of Culture to manage the Saudi cultural sector in its various specializations, and the Commission will work to translate the Ministry’s plans towards the architecture and design arts sector by creating a creative field that allows the Saudi architecture style to be highlighted and developed in a way that reflects pride in the ancient national identity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia as an important part of the pillars of the Kingdom's 2030 vision.
